The announcement by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that its new chairman is to be South Korean bureaucrat Hoesung Lee, an economist, will further cloud the debate on climate science, says Tom Harris, executive director of the International Climate Science Coalition, writing in the Washington Times. "Mr Lee's remarks to the press demonstrated that he is sadly out of touch with the actual status of today's climate science. That is hardly surprising," says Harris.
